The Invisible Opera Company of Tibet is a psychedelic rock band infused with a hint of jazz and a twist of gnome. The Invisible Opera Company of Tibet is a codename given by Australian poet, guitarist and paradigm subversion agent Daevid Allen, following experiences of a higher intelligence that guided the progress of 70's psychedelic fusion band Gong.
The band was formed by guitarist Brian Zero Abbott in the summer of 1992. Inspired by Daevid's view that music can be a tool for evolution and transformation of consciousness. There were at that time Invisible Opera bands in Australia, Brazil and the USA.
The UK band has appeared at many festivals over the years, and done a UK tour with Daevid Allen and Ruz Hibbs (of the Australian Invisibles). They have produced several albums, both studio and live, with an ongoing recording and performance history.
The current lineup is: Brian Zero guitars, glissando guitar and vocals Jackie Juno lead vocal, percussion, tinkle-tonk Clive Buckland-Bork keyboards, programming, homework Phil O'Sophical Curtis bassage DanTastic Barber drummage Catriona McTeabag backing vocals, percussion
The latest material includes hard-hitting political pieces addressing current world issues; inspired improvised music and poetry; classic older songs; psychedelic fusion with ancient chants; and of course the odd transmission from Radio Gnome via the Planet Gong. Creating an inspiring, challenging and uplifting performance which will have you grooving til you've transcended your resistance to having fun! |
